🚗 TRANSPORTATION 🚘

HOW LONG IS THE DRIVE TO THE RETREAT?

4-5 hours depending on traffic and time of day. Click here for a Google Maps route.

CAN I GET A RIDE UP TO THE RETREAT FROM MELBOURNE?

Yes--when you book a ticket, the form will ask you whether you want to get a ride, give others a ride or just drive up by yourself. In the week or two leading up to the Retreat, we’ll help connect people who are happy to give others a ride with those looking for one.

HOW WILL I GET FROM FEATHERTOP CHALET TO MT HOTHAM AND BACK?

People with cars will be driving up and you’ll be able to catch a ride with them.

Alternatively, you can catch a Dyson or Snowball Express bus. Check our their timetables online and book ahead to confirm your spot.

Note, Mt Hotham has a small resort entry fee per vehicle, around $50. Book more than 7 days in advance and save.


⏰ SCHEDULE & TIMING ⏰

WHAT DAY OF THE RETREAT IS SCHEDULED OR SKIING?

Sunday. That said, you’re welcome to go Friday, Saturday night, Monday or whenever you’d like (you’ll need to arrange your own transportation and ski-hire).

WHEN SHOULD I COME TO THE RETREAT?

The chalet will be ready for us from Friday 1:30pm, you’re welcome to arrive anytime after then. Shabbat will start at 5:19pm, we suggest you arrive well before then so you won’t miss out on the special Friday night program. If you leave Melbourne at 11am and give 5 hours for the drive, you should be safe.

I WANT AN EXTRA DAY AT MT HOTHAM. IS THERE AN OPTION TO STAY UNTIL MONDAY?

Yes, for an extra $50 for the night, accommodation + food.

IS THERE AN OPTION TO ARRIVE DAY EARLIER, ON THURSDAY?

Unfortunately no. Another group will be using the facilities at that time. But there are plenty of accommodation alternatives nearby in Harrietville and Bright. You can stay there the night then hop over to Feathertop Chalet on Friday.

WHAT'S SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY NIGHT AND SHABBAT?

We’re putting together an enriching Friday night / Shabbat program that will include Kabbalat Shabbat, yum Shabbat meals, lifestyle workshops, and meaningful classes.

Want to just relax?

The chalet’s ample lounging and recreational facilities will help you do just that.

More Shabbat program details will be released in the weekS leading up to the Retreat. Keep an eye out for Facebook posts and check back here in a week’s time.

WHEN IS CHECKOUT?

For those leaving on Sunday, there is no set time!

If extending for an extra night till Monday, checkout is officially 10am. Feathertop however does have an option to safely leave your belongings after check-out to pick up later in the day if you plan to hit the snow.


🏠 ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES 🏠

WHAT'S THE ACCOMMODATION LIKE?

We have reserved two lodges in the Chalet. The lodges have a mix of room types, 6 beds, 4 beds and 2 beds. Each room has a private ensuite. The 2 bed bedrooms share an ensuite with an adjacent 2 bed bedroom. Each lodge has a spacious shared dining / lounge area with a kitchen, couches, and a deck. The lodges are well heated.

HOW DOES THE PRIVATE ROOM OPTION WORK?

If you’d like to come up with a partner and want private accommodation, we have a limited number of private rooms with en suites available, for a higher nightly rate. Some of the en suites are shared with an adjacent room. You can choose the Private Room option on the registration form.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE WAY OF FOOD?

Feathertop Chalet will be catering three generous Kosher meals a day and will provide round-the-clock snacks--you won’t go hungry! If you have dietary preferences, the registration form asks you to detail them--a team member will follow-up with you over the phone. Your dietary preferences will be well accommodated.

ASIDE FOR ACCOMMODATION, WHAT FEATHERTOP FACILITIES WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO?

You’ll have access to Feathertop’s indoor heated pool and basketball court, gym, mini golf, games room, fireplace lounge and more!


🎿🗻 MT HOTHAM & SKIING 🗻🎿

I'VE NEVER SKIED BEFORE. IS THAT A PROBLEM?

Not at all!

Mount Hotham has a range of ski slopes for beginners, experts and everyone in between. Someone in our group with skiing experience will lead a beginner’s ski class at the beginning of the day to get you off the ground. And, skiing isn’t the only fun option on Mount Hotham. There’s great toboggan options too. Not to mention fun bars and cafes galore.


💰 SNOW PRICES (not included in retreat ticket) 💰

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST - Bringing your vehicle:

Every vehicle that enters Mount Hotham is required to pay an entry fee of about $50, which varies based on vehicle size. Pay more than 7 days in advance and save.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST - Skiing and Snowboarding:

To ski or snowboard at Mt Hotham, there are two baseline costs: You’ll need a ski-lift pass that will let you take chair lifts up the mountain, and ski-hire, which includes the skis, boots that click into them and poles to help with balance.

Prices of ski-lift passes vary based on the day and when they are booked. As of 30th June, ski-lift for Sun August 8 was priced at $165. Book ahead of time to avoid prices rising or tickets selling out. Better deals are offered if booking for multiple days.

Hoys ski hire has offered us their special group rates, cheaper than the bundles offered by Mt Hotham. At the group rate, basic ski hire is $73.

When you book a ticket to the retreat, the registration form will ask you whether you’d like to opt in to the group ski-hire option. If you opt in, we’ll get in touch with further details.

As soon as 16 people opt in, we will access these special group rates.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST - Tobogganing:

Tobogganing is a far cheaper option. Entry to toboggan hills is free. Toboggans are available for hire for just $15.
